ART
Zoë Fitzherbert is a visual artist based in lutruwita/Tasmania. She creates lush, ethereal paintings that calm, inspire and resonate. A large number of Zoë’s paintings are currently on exhibition at the Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery. Please get in touch here with purchase enquiries or commission requests.
Zoë's most recent landscapes utilise the broad, impressionistic brushstrokes of her older work, whilst incorporating delicate, lace-like overlays of intensely detailed mark-making. This combination seeks to highlight the preciousness of the lutruwita wilderness, as fragile as it is magnificent.
Zoë's older works are boldly abstract, inspired by a longing for the freedom and warmth of summer. These pieces are largely characterised by "lush, ethereal planes of drifting colour and form that feel like swimming underwater, while other works echo the decaying poetry of faded paint, sun damage and the subtle patina of general disintegration." (Andrew Harper, The Mercury)
Zoë comes to her mode of practice alongside a 15-year career as an Architect and tertiary educator of art, design and architectural history in Australia and Germany. Exhibitions include MONORAMA at The Holy Art Gallery, London, UK (2023) and TIDAL at the Long Gallery, nipaluna/Hobart (2020). She holds a Bachelor of Design (University of Sydney) and a Master of Architecture (University of Melbourne).
